Two Singers, One Song, One Room
In 1956, Bobby Marchan cut a single called “Chickie Wah Wah,” written by his bandleader Huey “Piano” Smith — who released his own version, “Little Chickee Wah Wah,” two years later. Both records still hang on our walls, alongside painted portraits of the two men who made them.
We think of Bobby and Huey as our patron saints. When we took over this club after founder Dale Triguero passed away, it was to make sure Mid-City kept its one true music room — not to let it become a parking garage, or worse, a law office.
